Word List

Searches documents containing a few words in any order. This works using the Boolean AND operator as well.
For example, to find all documents containing both COMSOL Multiphysics and photonics, type



Phrase

Searches for an exact match of a few words in a specific order - a phrase.
For example, to find all documents that contain the word COMSOL followed by the word photonics, type



Exclude pages containing specified words

Allows you to narrow your search by excluding pages containing specified words or phrases. It is important to put a space before the "minus" sign.

For example, to find all documents containing the word COMSOL without also containing the word photonics, type



Search by pattern

Allows you to find documents containing words, that match a specified pattern. The character '?' means only one character, while '*' means a sequence of any number of characters. You should use at least 3 non-pattern characters in the beginning of the search criteria pattern.

For example, to find all documents containing words beginning with 'COM' type



Logical OR

Allows you to find documents containing at least one of the specified words or phrases. Either the Boolean OR or the | operators can be used.
For example, to find all documents containing either the word COMSOL or the word photonics or both, type



Complex expressions

Allows you to search for documents that match specified complex expressions. The expression can be composed by using the AND and OR boolean operators. Subexpressions can be grouped using parentheses and also be another boolean expression or just a word, pattern or phrase.

For example, to find documents containing either the phrase "COMSOL photonics" as well as the word acoustics, or instead the word material, type
