Introduction

This is an introduction to using the AC/DC Module for electromagnetics simulations. You will learn how to build models for electrostatics, magnetostatics and low-frequency applications, extraction of RLC parameters, force and torque calculations. The course also gives an introduction to multiphysics involving electromagnetic phenomena such as induction heating.

Contents

  • The fundamentals of mathematical modeling for electromagnetic fields within statics and quasi-statics
  • Electrostatics
  • Magnetostatics
  • Computation of electromagnetic forces
  • Quasi-static approximations
  • Computation of inductance, capacitance and resistance
  • Current and fields coupled to heat generation and heat transfer
  • Solvers, visualization, and postprocessing

Suggested Background

This course requires only a basic knowledge of mathematical modeling.
